WHO ARE WE
Malorshiga is a metal band from Slovene Istria, interweaving black and death metal with distinct ethno-musical elements derived from their land of origin. It finds inspiration and pays tribute to old customs, traditions, history and the immense power of nature.
MALORSHIGA IS CURRENTLY PRODUCING THEIR NEW ALBUM
The band was formed in late summer 2017 in conjunction with organizing a small single-day black metal festival in the form of a traditional village festivity. You can read more about the festival here. In roughly two weeks the band composed the main body of songs found on its debut album and managed to organize and run the festival, which hosted their debut performance.
The band continued playing live shows, refining their live performance aesthetics and composed new material, which culminated in the release of its debut album Kvlt ov Vitis et Olea in 2019.
The album was self-produced, self-recorded, and self-released, featuring guest performances by Jerneja Umer Kljun on clean vocals and Dario Marušić on the Istrian mih – a traditional type of bagpipes. The album was mixed and mastered by Jan Bajc Funa, while the artwork was commissioned to Urška Vidmar.
The band started the album cycle with headline performances on a variety of shows and small festivals. They embarked on a two-date Czech mini tour playing in Brno and Prague. One of their songs was selected as the “song of the week” on Slovene national radio.
During the 2020 covid lockdown the band independently released their music on all major music streaming services and started working on new material. In late summer 2020, during lockdown, the band managed to perform three headline concerts.
On October 10th 2020, one year after its release, Malorshiga ended the album cycle for Kvlt ov Vitis et Olea with an exclusive performance in St. Mark’s salt storage in Koper.
The band is currently working on their sophomore release, taking a break from live performances until the new material is ready to be released.
